AI and logistics: RAISE hosts Smart Routes event

On Thursday, June 26, the Talent Garden in Genoa hosted the fifth event of the P2 | BASIC AI & ROBOTICS APPLICATIONS4SMEs project, part of the RAISE training program coordinated by Spoke 5.

The meeting, titled “Smart Routes: Artificial Intelligence for Logistics and Supply Chain in SMEs”, explored the impact of intelligent technologies on logistics processes in small and medium-sized enterprises.

The event brought together entrepreneurs, managers, and logistics professionals, guiding them through practical insights into the latest applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, with a particular focus on accessible solutions for smaller businesses.

Daily challenges faced by SMEs – shorter delivery times, increasingly complex flow management, limited resources, and the need for simple yet effective technological tools – served as key topics for discussion. The day provided a comprehensive overview of the opportunities offered by AI across the supply chain, from demand forecasting to dynamic route optimization.

Real-world examples, applied use cases, and direct testimonials showed how logistics digitalization goes far beyond transport efficiency. Instead, it involves the company as a whole, transforming logistics into a strategic asset. The targeted adoption of intelligent solutions has proven to enhance operational sustainability, reduce logistics costs, and increase responsiveness to changing market conditions.

Among the featured speakers were Veronica Asta, founder of the Genoa-based start-up OPTIMeasy Srls, and Luca Calabrese, CEO and founder of LCS Liguria Consulting Solutions Srl.

Veronica Asta stated: “It’s a pleasure to take part in events like this in our own city. What I aim to contribute is a reflection on a set of innovative technologies. The goal is to use the most suitable technology for each specific problem. With our start-up, we have integrated technologies to bring added value and support decision-making for transport and supply chain operators.”

The initiative “Smart Routes: Artificial Intelligence for Logistics and Supply Chain in SMEs” confirmed RAISE’s ongoing commitment to bringing local businesses closer to enabling technologies, promoting a hands-on and widespread innovation culture, especially among SMEs.
