Solutions and challenges for innovation: AI and Robotics for tourism and culture Businesses
On November 14, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Genoa Blue District, RAISE presents the first public event of the ARTOUR project – Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Tourism, co-financed by the Interreg Italy–France Maritime Program. The project aims to support businesses operating in the tourism and cultural sectors of cross-border regions through services and funding dedicated to applying AI and robotics technologies.
The event, titled “Solutions and Challenges for Innovation: AI and Robotics for Tourism and Culture Businesses”, is organized by RAISE Liguria, the project coordinator, with the participation of the cross-border partnership and some of the main players in the Ligurian innovation ecosystem.
At the heart of the discussion will be the opportunities for companies that, thanks to the ARTOUR project, can access specialized services and dedicated funding to support innovation and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies capable of increasing competitiveness, efficiency, and sustainability.
The event aims to provide a space for dialogue among institutions, experts, and key industry players — an opportunity to share experiences, tools, services, and solutions that the ARTOUR project will offer to businesses in the region through its activities.
Artificial intelligence, robotics, and other enabling technologies are increasingly shaping the digital transformation of society, including within the tourism and cultural sectors. Companies are being called to engage with an irreversible process of technological innovation that, in just a few years, has radically transformed the very concept of travel and the way we experience historical, artistic, and architectural heritage.
The conference will open with institutional greetings from local authority representatives, followed by a presentation of the ARTOUR project and its partners: START 4.0 (Genoa), Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Nice Côte d’Azur (Nice), E.INS – Ecosystem of Innovation for Next Generation Sardinia (Sassari), ARTES 4.0 (Pisa), and Petra Patrimonia Corsica (Bastia).
A roundtable discussion will then take place, involving key actors and stakeholders who will exchange ideas on the main themes of the event and present concrete case studies. Speakers include Iacopo Avegno (Regione Liguria), Mattia Rossi (Legacoop Liguria), Noemi Burgio (Business Innovation Center – FILSE), Susanna Alloisio (ETT), Olivia Zaina (CTE Casa delle Tecnologie – Municipality of Genoa), Francesco Rea (Italian Institute of Technology), and Antonio Sgorbissa (University of Genoa). All are part of the RAISE ecosystem and will share real-world examples of robotics applications in museum and tourism contexts.
“Through ARTOUR,” explains Cristina Battaglia, RAISE Programme Manager, “we aim to transfer the experience, skills, and technologies developed within the RAISE ecosystem to small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the tourism and cultural services sectors. Thanks to a partnership capable of identifying the sector’s technological needs, we will provide specialized, high-quality services for companies. In addition to these services, businesses will also be able to benefit from funding to develop and test innovative solutions based on robotics and AI that can improve, streamline, and simplify their services and processes.”
