RAISE at MEDFEST25

From 25 to 28 September, Olbia will host MEDFEST25, an international platform that brings together business, sustainable tourism, and agri-food in a single connected ecosystem, designed to attract investments and create new opportunities for cooperation among companies, institutions, and economic operators.

RAISE will take part in the 2025 edition with a dedicated panel and an exhibition stand, highlighting the potential of robotics and artificial intelligence for the sustainable development of the Mediterranean.

MEDFEST aims to go beyond the concept of a traditional fair, becoming a reference point for the Mediterranean and its biodiversity. The festival invests in the education of new generations through the Med Young program, which involves students and young professionals on key issues of sustainability and innovation. At the same time, it promotes an open dialogue between science and society, bringing together researchers, policymakers, businesses, media, and citizens.

Within this framework, on 25 September at 3:30 p.m., RAISE will present the round table “An ecosystem to support our technological future”, dedicated to the model developed in Liguria to design solutions based on robotics and artificial intelligence. Speakers will include Silvia Biasotti (CNR-IMATI), Giulia Bodo (IIT), Marco Faimali (CNR-IAS), Francesca Garaventa (CNR-IAS), and Ilaria Zanardi (CNR-IAS). The aim is to put technology at the service of quality of life, urban and port management, and the protection of the Mediterranean’s natural heritage.

You can watch the round table discussion live via livestream at this link.

Over the past three years, RAISE has consolidated a network that connects universities, research centers, hospitals, and companies, generating tangible results in areas such as healthcare, environmental protection, smart cities, and intelligent ports. The current challenge is to transform these solutions into real opportunities for the region, by fostering technology transfer and the industrialization of the most promising projects.

The panel will address the five strategic areas of intervention of RAISE: inclusive and accessible urban technologies, advanced healthcare and intelligent environments, ecorobotics for the protection of air, water, and soil, intelligent and sustainable ports, and structured pathways for knowledge and technology transfer.

Throughout MEDFEST, RAISE will also be present with an exhibition stand, offering visitors and economic stakeholders the opportunity to explore some of the innovations developed within the project and to discover how an integrated technological ecosystem can contribute to addressing the environmental, social, and industrial challenges of the Mediterranean.

In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the “Aquae” exhibition by the National Research Council (CNR). The exhibition takes the audience on a journey into the marine environment, showcasing the crucial role of the oceans for life on Earth: regulating the climate, hosting extraordinary biodiversity, supporting millions of people, and enabling 80% of global trade.

Experiments, models, video installations, and immersive images will guide visitors through the dynamics that link the sea and climate, the biological engine of the oceans, and the innovative technologies developed by CNR research groups to monitor and safeguard the marine environment from human impact.
