Robotics and AI: visions for the future of the RAISE Ecosystem

Conference with Silvia Biasotti, Giulia Bodo, Elisa Costa, Francesca Garaventa, and Simona Tirasso. Moderated by Daniele Chieffi.

For the third consecutive year, RAISE takes part in the Genoa Science Festival, strengthening a collaboration that brings together research, innovation, and public engagement.

The 2025 edition carries special significance: it marks the final phase of the RAISE Innovation Ecosystem, a three-year project that has united universities, research centers, enterprises, and institutions with the goal of transforming scientific knowledge into tangible solutions for the region.

On Friday, October 24, at 5:30 p.m., at the Sala delle Donne in Palazzo Ducale, a conference discussion will be held on “RAISE: an ecosystem looking to the future. Robotics and AI for better living”, with the aim of offering an overview of the innovations produced and the legacy that this large shared laboratory leaves to Liguria: a stable network of expertise, evolving projects, and a culture of cooperation-driven innovation.

The event features researchers active within the five thematic Spokes of RAISE, each focused on a key area of regional development: inclusive and accessible cities, advanced healthcare and intelligent environments, eco-robotics for air, water, and soil protection, sustainable and digitalized ports, and technology transfer.

Through their experiences, the audience will discover how robotics and artificial intelligence have taken shape in concrete projects that influence daily life and create new opportunities for the region.

Silvia Biasotti (CNR-IMATI) will present advances in computer graphics and urban digital twins; Giulia Bodo (IIT) will explore how rehabilitation robotics is transforming human–machine interaction; Elisa Costa and Francesca Garaventa (CNR-IAS) will share insights from their research on marine plastics and pollutants; and Simona Tirasso will discuss the P5 | AI for Public Administration program, focused on the ethical and strategic use of digital technologies in public governance. The discussion will be moderated by Daniele Chieffi, journalist and author, expert in communication and reputation management.

This conference provides a space for dialogue among experiences united by a common goal: placing science at the service of society and building a sustainable and human-centered future. The innovations developed over the past three years represent the starting point of an ongoing process—a catalyst for new collaborations and projects that will continue to evolve beyond RAISE’s formal duration.

Participating means witnessing how cooperation between disciplines and institutions can produce meaningful innovation. RAISE demonstrates that an open and collaborative ecosystem can become a lasting engine of growth, positioning Liguria as a national and international reference point for technological advancement.
