Registration open for the 3rd Doctoral Summer School on Robotics and Intelligent Machines – DRIMS2

Registrations are now officially open for the third edition of the Doctoral Summer School on Robotics and Intelligent Machines – DRIMS2, scheduled to take place from August 24 to 31, 2025, at Collegio Emiliani in Genoa.
The initiative, co-funded by the RAISE – Robotics and AI for Socio-economic Empowerment project, offers an important opportunity for advanced training for PhD students and early-career researchers in the field of robotics and intelligent machines.
The school is particularly aimed at doctoral students in Bioengineering and Robotics, Computer Science and Systems Engineering, Mechanical, Energy, and Management Engineering, and Robotics and Intelligent Machines – DIN.
Promoted by the University of Genoa in collaboration with prominent national and international academic and industrial partners, DRIMS2 adopts an innovative educational approach that combines theoretical lectures with active learning methodologies, including hands-on labs, group projects, and experiential learning.
The academic program is structured over eight themed days, each dedicated to a key area of modern robotics: robot design and actuators, tactile sensing, computer vision, human-centered robotics, and system integration.
The agenda also includes interdisciplinary roundtables, meetings with industry experts, and a full day focused on RAISE activities. During this special session, participants will design and 3D print an intelligent robotic gripper, using cutting-edge tactile and visual sensing technologies.
The teaching team includes 14 members of the scientific committee and 5 internationally renowned keynote speakers from universities, research centers, and leading companies in robotics and artificial intelligence.
Key objectives of the school include:
– Strengthening participants’ cross-disciplinary and technical skills,
– Promoting collaboration between academia and industry,
– Showcasing research outcomes developed within RAISE,
– Raising awareness about the ethical, legal, and societal implications of emerging technologies.
Registration is mandatory and must be completed by filling out the online form at this link.
Detailed information about participation fees and discounts available to RAISE collaborators can be found here.
